Remastering

these are examples for excellent remastering and perfect pressings. We all had many complaints about remastering attempts in the past but it now looks that we have made progress in that area, maybe also due to digital steps in the process.

I know many vinyl lovers will not like having included digital steps in the mastering process. I also go for first pressings if affordable. But it is the result that counts. Some studios have invented excellent machines and technologies mastering the old analogue tapes in a way we did not believe before. Just take the MOFI discussion, put the Santana Abraxas one step record on one of your tables! Wow! Same with Bob Dylan or the Beatles remasterings!

  1. E,

The biggest surprise for me was how good all the recent Beatles remasters have been. You almost can’t listen to the originals any more. I am a huge DiMeola fan. I just added these to my shopping list.

    • Norman,
They used a new software to separate the voices from the music. Later on they put it together. It sounds much better. Paul Mc Cartney said “if John had listened to it he would be very happy”
