a good friend of mine who gives me good ideas on travel, soccer (yes: Bayern Munich) and audiophile units asked me trying the Progressive Audio Power Station.

To compensate for the fluctuation in tension only so-called active power conditioners that actually ensure a stable voltage can do this. Dieter Burmester and Accuphase were early adopters of this in hi-fi. But of course the big names in power filtering – such as IsoTec, PS Audio & Co. – also have such power conditioners on offer. But the Progressive Audio concept seems to have been made even more consistent.
The housing is quite solid and made in the style of a large power amplifier: bulky, heavy and equipped with handles at the front, which gives the whole thing a certain studio look. Galvanic isolation takes place after the mains input. The AC voltage is then rectified and the sine wave is regenerated in quasi-perfect form – i.e. without DC voltage components and with a distortion of less than 0.2%.
Ralf Koenen, the mastermind of PA, explained me some basics, also inviting me to the world of Furutech with NCF technology, a special damping mixture.
After having connected the unit in my system everything changed. Yes, I do have my own galvanic station at home. Needing the 3 Kw Power Station, ending up to 1,4 Kw usually, when all my units have been added – you see it in the display how it is reported (Power). The Furutech connection is excellent, I do have also a Vibex socket line, as well as another (non NFC) Furutech one. Maybe some changes in the future will happen here too 😉

As the Power Station gets easily hot staying on their small feet I provided some higher support stands which helps a lot cooling it down.
So what is the result: A more stable and balanced listening stage is the one effect, the bass gets more exact and punctually hitting the point, much more crispy. I never complained about my bass but this is a wonderful effect. It takes you inside of the music, from Phonos, CD/SACD and tapes. Let me say: I love it! Physics well implemented and providing a perfect listening exposure.

Quite a snake pit.! It does not Schock Me that the bass is the most positive payback.
