Just recently I met a good consulting friend asking me of using a new machine for improving my electronic power management. Ok – no worries about it, I thought. The topic is quite present as dealers and manufacturers show their power management units when presenting music demonstrations.
Most experts see it as a MUST BE to invest on current devices or some of the improvement stuff available everywhere, like fuses, power bars etc. in comparison to buy an additional device for the High-End system. Nevertheless many “Hi Enders” do not see the topic as a fundamental one.
People are sceptical, they do report issues like changes in between 228-240V, transfer of high frequencies as well as co-current transmissions. This is not a reliable condition for using our music instruments. Sometimes you perceive the music as wonderful in the afternoon but worsening in the evening hours or just the other way round.
Battery solutions are quite favoured at the moment. I do use a battery solution for my Caeles transport, the motor is driven by this unit while the vacuum is built up in a different room via a huge compressor. Why not? It is a good and costly approach to disconnect from the home network. But usually the battery devices are too small reaching out to cater a big system, especially big amps.

I have discussed topics on current with Stephan Götze who sadly died this month. He consulted Silbatone and Acoustical Systems during the High End shows in Munich. Ralf Koenen, the developer and company boss of Progressive Audio, is my recent advisor in establishing “my sinus line”.
In many countries, like the US, you see sometimes radical concepts of separating from the local electrical network. This approach is helpful but needs a separate house and good money. At High End in Vienna next year we may see more & more exhibitors using their own big & mobile battery compartments. So it is going in the right direction!
From my point of view two aspects on delivering the perfect current are important: First of all the main fuse box, sockets and power bars (Fuse me Up!, Furutech NCF, Power Station – on this blog). You may need fuses treated with laquer and booster material, also an appropriate RDC ( residual current operative protected device). My one comes from Doepke, the black one right in the middle.

Secondly you need “your own Sinus”, being independent from your location, neighbourhood and “other dirty ingredients”. I went not for a big battery solution, too many big boxes with quite a good size and quite costly too. Instead I am using the Power Station of Progressive Audio (Power Station). How does it implement on the sound?
As you might have a proper & excellent listening performance in your room you will see some impact on the bass. It is more on the crispy side, rather dry and well balanced. At the weekend we were exchanging ideas and concepts on master tapes. My friend, he is a builder of tonearms ( no, not Dietrich), said the music is resolving from the stage and at the the same time pretty well dynamical.
So it looks like this was being a real jump. Sadly the last one, as it looks I have reached a kind of paradise stage. Guess I will not change…

Hello,
As an audiophile since 45 years ago I have experienced many ways to better sound when the power isn’t good.
power regenerators like Pure power, isolation Transforms, passive power cleaner and so on but non of them made sound like when the wall power is good.
In my opinion all of them kills dynamics with different ways,
So I’m very pessimistic about this matter and I think it’s just throwing money away!
Sorry But that’s the truth.

Hello,
No problem with your experience. I guess you never had the chance to build up your own sinus. This is the difference. Maybe if I could demonstrate it to you you will become a Paulus from Saulus. Forget the small current improvement units from the last years, even so called power conditioners with filters etc. It is definitely a different world as you have your own power plant at home, stable and improving, believe me.
Best
E.

I agree! Only a true replacement with sine wave will do. Here in Denmark power is not an issue.
