hi, interesting to know someone is looking after continuum service please let us know contact details as I am starting to set up my criterion/cobra after being boxed up for ten years…
the storage shows effects I have never seen before. In this case I would check the motor controller and the pump first. I assume they are damaged too, as they contain plastic parts.
The underneath layer is not important. As you have a second arm board I would use it, but only if the other units will work.
Spent the last few days cleaning and checking over each unit, Absolute Sounds in London said just connect everything to gather and check out all functions before setting TT up correctly.
Control unit is working fine “speeds/Light” to plinth its the vacuum pump that’s not working.
Have you had any experience on the vacuum pump. when I press the vacuum button a yellow light comes on a solenoid valve ? with a click but no pump action…
Vacuum bump is very small to the front it looks like its easily removed but from their I have no idea…

Mark,
Regarding the vacuum pump. I am not sure if you need it for playing. Ok,the record is not pressed down but if you put the clamp on it the record should be pressed down and play. Please try it.
btw. did you connect the pump with the table by the black pipe?

Tell him you talked with me. Mark and I met in Munich in May 2024 at the High End. If he cannot answer your questions you might get a hint where to go.
Thanks for the info above, all pipes and cables are connected,
On the vacuum unit I have a brown and blue internal cable connected to the vacuum pump. connecting a multi meter and pushing the vacuum button I get a reading of 50volts so I have power going to the pump via the vacuum push button on the controller..
Heat sinks on the back of the vacuum unit does your unit get HOT. on mine I can feel the heat coming off the circuit board but the heat sink is cool to touch..
I’ll try to get in touch with Mark after I speak to Pedro at Absolute Sounds on Monday…
Good, when all is connected! After having drilled the clamp in the middle over the spindle the record should come down. Then I do press the knob for the pump (in the middle of the control box). It gives me a blue signal. I do hear the pump is working and push the 33 knob for turning the record. Same at you?
I do not have a yellow light. It could be a signal that the pump is out of order!?
Did you ever experiment with the magnetic arm board attraction….

Presently setting up my Criterion / Cobra after being in storage for 10 years, moved back to UK from Malaysia.
When removing plinth from its box I noticed the black laminate to the armboard had come away also the same black laminate to the bottom of the plinth.
it would be nice to know the correct adhesive to reinstate both laminates.
Regarding the USA service, Just encase it’s needed..

just looked at your pics of the controller/Vacuum units, pump in my unit is not as wide but fits snugly between front plate and the power supply.

The yellow light is on a solenoid valve in side the vacuum pump unit. (rear bottom Left)
what about the rear heat sink on the vacuum unit is it hot / warm or cool to touch..

Mark,
does the platter turn?
Cannot come to the pump, it is enclosed and part of the hidden system.
