NOS tubes

for my EMT JPA 66 phono & preamplifier I went for NOS tubes. I was happy with the Chech EMT tubes but I thought I could improve & power up this very important unit.

these new (not inexpensive) NOS tubes from the 60ies bring a stable, more balanced & a little softer sound in the chain. They harmonize perfectly with the Ortofon Century 100 diamond cart and the Kondo MM & Consolidate Audio SUT.

Cables are Chrystal Cable, Stealth and Valhalla in between the units.

    • When a friend visited me we put the same record on both chains, EMT and Allnic.
We both thought that the Allnic was a bit superior to the EMT chain (with Ortofon SUT and the EMT tubes).
You need to understand that we have two MM chains with Allnic/Kondo KSL Sfz and secondly EMT 66/Kondo M7/ Consolidated Audio. So we have two excellent MM chains, also the Allnic in MM mode and the EMT as preamp after Kondo M7/Consolidated Audio.

I wouldn’t say I am a tube expert but I do know someone who is my musical inspirator which means he is a kind of a very experienced thinker in terms of phono, tubes etc.

After my changes on the EMT chain I like to say, that the EMT is a bit superior in terms of the sound. But you need to know it is difficult to compare as some of “the ingredients” are different (Kondo IO-m vs Ortofon Century 100) etc. Let me say that both phonos need to get my respect.
