you know I have tested many, many MC StepUp transformers. Finally I ended up with Kondo (the real old ones), Silvercore (Wahnfried) and Consolidated Audio.

When Michael Ulbrich from CA in Berlin visited me we looked and listened also in a new innovation of his SUTs, the Multi Ratio MC Step Up version. It means you may be able to play with a flexible ratio – adapt SUT to MC cartridges with a wide range of output voltages and also use flexible primary inductance – match SUT with a wide range of MC cart internal impedances.

Ratio/ Inductance Selection
In this dual version (a mono version is available too) a selection is accomplished by four jumpers with gold plated sockets and pins. Starting from a middle ratio N the SUT is configurable for ratios 1:10, 1:20 and 1:40. Two levels of primary inductance are available : High (H) with ratios 1:10 and 1:20 and Low (L) with ratios 1:20 and 1:40,
Hence a single Multi Ratio SUT is equivalent to four standard SUTs each with only a single ratio/inductance configuration. Please see the images above, where the four different jumper configurations are shown.
