I am using these tools usually on my seven active turntables. I got some other, more specific tools, like weights, speed counters or precision gauges like the one from Acoustial Systems etc.

Hi,
How does the Air Tight Cartridge Enhancer (it took me a while to decrypt the name) works and what is the black box with the main plug, please?

Hi Mikael,
The Air Tight Enhancer shortens the time of levelling in a cartridge. It also helps to refresh a cart after some time, three to four months. When you put the needle on the metal plate of the AT-LCE-1 it sends a 800 and 600 Hz signal, always alternating. It needs a period of 15 minutes. It is one of the most valuable cart tools in my collection.
The black box is a phase detector. Without using it you may connect your high end gear in the wrong way, leaving quite some substance in your listening enjoyment.

Hi Eckart,
great to see the tools you’re using for catridges. I have some questions, too:
– what’s the round black thing with digital numbers on it?
– do you use two VTA blocks? The right one I am using, too, what’s the left one for? And what’s the one standing up on the top of the picture?
– where did you get the spirit level for setting the turntable completely horizontal from? Such a thing is missing in my collection, I am always struggeling with setting this up correctly using a normal spirit level.
Many thanks in advance,
kind regards
Markus

Hi Markus,
The round black thing is a digital level gauge from Cartridge Man. By this tool you put the table on a horizontal and vertical bases – the item you are looking for. The left block is for Azimuth, you ´ll find it on one of my last threads. The upstanding tool is a very precise Japanese gauge, even more precise than anything else shown on the picture 🙂

Hi Eckart, many thanks for your reply (just saw it now, for some reason the email notification for your blog comments did not work)! One last question regarding the top left vinyl weight with the three level gauges – where did you get this from?
Kind regards,
Markus

Hi Markus,
I believe I found it in one of the shops many years ago. You may check on eBay, Amazon or other on-line shops for a phono three level gauge. It is very helpful especially for the Caeles II as I need to level up the whole table on air before playing.
