Conditioning

you might call me a crazy analogue audiophile. Not exactly knowing about the chemical processes at producing a vinyl record I understood that we have some ideas/techniques of improvement the structure and the ability to sound better than coming as a bought LP from the shop.

first of all the washing. Everyone agrees. Then the (flattening &) tempering. You might experience when using the Flat.Duo (see previous threads). Next is – and here you might call me somehow a crazy guy – the final demagnetising. What ? Yes!

I am using the Acoustic Revive RL 30 MKIII. Demagnetising CDs or LPs will provide accurate information when they are treated & conditioned. So among high end friends we all know that it is essential to start the 15 second process of demagnetisation before putting the record on the turntable. But after tempering?

I performed many tests today, using the 10th studio album of Galexico, El Mirador.
The vinyl was tempered this night. When listening to the music today the sound was really relaxed, very soft sounding. After the conditioning with the RL 30 the sound became more crisp, a bit more involved, attacking. I was shocked, never thought of this kind of effect. At the telephone this afternoon I told a friend in Austria that I do not expect wonders from this additional impact (after tempering). But it works!!! Next I will talk to a chemical guy explaining me en detail about the processes of tempering and conditioning (demagnetising).
