Although this ”recorder” looks more like a tape duplicating machine, I have to say that the last time I attended a transfer it was done with a A80 STUDER with extended tape guides on some long arms.
The use of those long arms served the soundman to visualise the gap between tracks (usually a coloured tape) so he could fade out and fade in the program in the cutting desk. Note also that when the fader reached the lowest point the left and right channel were put out of phase for obvious reasons.
